Oncology Social Work Services:
Caring for the psychosocial needs of the cancer patients served at The Robert and Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center is an integral part of the treatment provided. A diagnosis of cancer can have consequences upon the patient, family and caregiver which may include emotional, physical, social, and economic changes. Our Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Kathy Yeatman-Stock has an Oncology Social Work Certification and offers assistance with coping, advanced care planning, and advocacy. This may include individual and or family meetings to address the anxiety, fears about quality of life or future, and grief related to having a cancer diagnosis. In addition, these meetings provide support and assistance with long-range planning, decision making regarding treatment, and referrals to community resources as needed.
To address the effects that cancer and its treatment have on the emotional well-being off our patients and their families and to introduce ways to manage the challenges that go with a cancer diagnosis.
How our Program is Different:
Our LCSW is on-site and specializes in the unique concerns of the cancer patient. This includes patient decision-making, anxiety associated with waiting for test results, confirming a diagnosis, coping with shock, denial, fears, dread of recurrence, anxiety, and many other issues specific to the cancer patient and family.
