WOMEN'S AND CHILDREN'S TRANSPORT SERVICES

Women and children at other medical facilities are routinely transferred to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) to receive the most advanced maternal, pediatric and neonatal medical care available in the Pomona Valley. In response, PVHMC has developed specialized services for transporting critically ill patients quickly and safely.

Our emergency transport services are available 24-hours-a-day to transport high-risk pregnant women and critically ill newborns and children. Transport teams - including physician specialists, registered nurses and respiratory therapists - are trained to quickly assess and stabilize the patient's condition for transport, and our specially designed and equipped vehicles ensure that patients receive the best care possible.

Maternal Transport Services
PVHMC's Maternal Transport Unit provides medical care for pregnant patients en route to the hospital. Our transport team is specially trained to care for the full range of maternal medical emergencies, including:

  • Bleeding after 20 weeks
  • Hypertensive disorders
  • Premature dilation or rupture of membranes
  • Pre-term labor
  • Multiple gestation (twins, etc.)
  • Diabetes

Neonatal Transport Services
Our Neonatal Transport Unit is standing by to transport prematurely born infants or critically ill newborns to PVHMC's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). In transit, and at the NICU, our skilled and experienced staff provides unsurpassed care for the full range of neonatal medical conditions, including:

  • Conditions requiring surgical procedures
  • Infection
  • Kidney dysfunction
  • Neurological disorders
  • Orthopedic complications
  • Premature birth
  • Respiratory disorders

Pediatric Transport Services
The Pediatric Transport Unit provides rapid response transport services for critically ill or injured children to PVHMC's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). PVHMC is renowned for providing the region's most compassionate and advanced pediatric medical care - both in transit and in the hospital for a comprehensive range of critical conditions, including:

  • Asthma complications
  • Congestive heart failure
  • Epileptic seizure
  • Gastrointestinal and kidney disorders
  • Meningitis or other infection
  • Near drowning
  • Neurological disorders
  • Respiratory failure
  • Trauma or surgical emergencies
