Pomona Valley Imaging Center – Chino Hills is a digital health care provider with medical records and radiology scans kept on computers instead of on paper and film. The Chino Hills health center is part of Pomona Valley Health Centers’ electronic medical records system where all charts are kept on laptops instead of on paper. Patients can go to any of Pomona Valley Hospital’s satellite health centers for treatment and physicians would be able to pull up their records. Only authorized personnel would be able to access the records. Records of scans done at the Imaging Center in the Claremont health center will be stored digitally, as well. All the scans are fully digital, which allows faster turn around of reports.
Storing images in digital format allows for advanced manipulation, helping radiologists find anything that looks suspicious, no matter how small a spot or crack it is. The radiologists are helped by computer programs that are designed to analyze the digital data. The electronic information will be stored on computers where authorized personnel have instant access. If a physician has a question, he can call the radiologist and both can look at the computer image at the same time.
Many health experts believe that digital medical records and computerized record keeping will help prevent mistakes when different doctors prescribe redundant treatments. Computerized, digital medical records will provide each patient’s physicians with a detailed history that could help diagnose and treat patients more efficient and effectively.
