Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) is a 453-bed acute care, not-for-profit, teaching hospital serving Eastern Los Angeles and Western San Bernardino counties. In addition to its many national designations, PVHMC is also recognized throughout the state and the region for superior medical care and the efficient use of resources. Founded in 1903, PVHMC is accredited by The Joint Commission. These distinctions include:

● National American Heart Association (AHA) "Get with the Guidelines" Gold Recognition award for treating Heart Failure patients with 85 % compliance for at least 24 months to core standard levels of care (2009)

 

● National American Heart Association (AHA) "Get with the Guidelines" Silver Recognition award for treating Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) patients with 85 % compliance for at least 12 months to core standard levels of care (2009)

 

● National recognized in July 2009 edition of “US News and World Report” as among America’s best hospitals (2009-10)

 

● PVHMC’s Stead Heart and Vascular Center has earned the Blue Distinction, Center for Cardiac Care, 2009, for quality measures and patient satisfaction for Blue Shield/Blue Cross of America

  

● Blue Cross Distinction award as a Cardiac Center of Excellence (2005-08)

 

● The Society of Thoracic Surgery (STS) has recognized PVHMC with a 3-star rating (the highest distinction given) for its quality of care provided by PVHMC’s Stead Heart and Vascular Center for its Cardiac Surgery Program (2010)

 

● Los Angeles County designation as a STEMI (ST-Elevated Myocardial Infarction) Receiving Center in 2007; San Bernardino/Riverside Counties STEMI Receiving Center designation, 2009

 

► Designated as among the “Most Wired” hospitals in the category of “Most Improved” by Hospital and Health Network Magazine 2007

 

► “San Gabriel Valley Environmental Award” 2008 and 2009 from the Los Angeles Regional Agency (LARA) for significant reduction of waste through the use of reusable materials

 

► US Department of Health & Human Services, Health Resources Services Administration conferred its Exemplary Donation Practices Award for Achieving a 75 % conversion rate for total number of organ donations (2007)
