Leading the Way
A History of Success
The department of Rehabilitation Services at PVHMC has a long
history in our community. Established in 1954, we were the only physical
therapy practice from Pasadena to San Bernardino. From this historic beginning,
our department has grown to over 50 licensed therapists and has long been the
region’s most comprehensive and successful provider of rehabilitation services.
FOUNDER: Charles M. Magistro, PT, FAPTA
In the 1980s, our
hospital-based rehabilitation department began expanding its services
neighboring communities and now offers PVHMC outpatient clinics in
Chino Hills and Covina. This has allowed us to fulfill the needs of
both our medical staff and our patients with convenient, quality
services in those communities. Continued expansion remains a key
our business plan today. Our facilities are Medicare and Medi-Cal
certified, as well as JCAHO accredited.
The last decade has
explosion in the scope and specialization of rehabilitation services.
Diagnostic specific specialized therapy programs that improve the
efficiency of treatment by utilizing evidence-based practice guidelines
highly skilled clinicians are our standard of practice. Through the
PVHMC Department of Rehabilitation Services has established 18 specialized “Get
programs, all offered in addition to traditional rehabilitative
led by therapists with advanced certification. Our “Stay Well” programs
designed to pick up where regular treatments leave off, giving patients a
cash-pay alternative for aftercare.
Clinical Education Site
staff participates regularly in continuing education and many serve as

education site for the highly regarded physical therapy programs at the
University of Southern California and Western University of Health
Sciences. Our senior staff serve as both associate and clinical

field of physical therapy.
