Expectant mothers in seven California counties can now rest a little easier knowing that if they need emergency care for themselves or their pre-term baby help is on the way. Thanks to Mercy Air, helicopter services have been added to PVHMC’s long-standing ground transportation program. Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) was recently honored with an “A” Hospital Safety Score by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. The Hospital Safety Score was calculated under the guidance of The Leapfrog Group’s Blue Ribbon Expert Panel using publicly available data on patient injuries, medical and medication errors, and infections. The March of Dimes California Chapter has awarded a grant to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center to support its Continuous Glucose Monitoring Pregnancy Project that is aimed at underserved maternal and child health needs in the Pomona Valley area. This program will help diabetic pregnant women get control of their blood sugar levels. Uncontrolled blood sugar is known to coincide with birth defects, macrosomia (high birth weight) and other complications.
