He started Orthopaedic Residency at Hamot Medical Center combined program
with Duke University. This program included pediatric orthopaedics training
at the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.
Following his formal training in orthopaedic surgery, Dr. Shaikley went
for his Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
The Fellowship was a subspecialty in reconstructive and implant surgery
which encompasses total joint replacements of the hip and knee joints.
Following completion of the orthopaedic training, he on the Orthopaedic
Board and was awarded Diplomat in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American
Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
In addition to his interest in general orthopedics, Dr. Shaikley’s
line of expertise is in total joint replacement of the hip and knee joints
due to arthritis.

Gregory Lercel, MD
Gregory Lercel, MD is a board certified orthopedist who specializes in
sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, joint replacements and orthopedic
trauma. After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from
the University of California, San Diego, Dr. Lercel went on to receive
his Medical Doctorate degree from The George Washington University in
Dr. Lercel completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Southern
California and sports medicine fellowship at the Los Angeles Orthopaedic
Institute. During his fellowship, Dr. Lercel gained additional training
in arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the knee, shoulder, ankle
and elbow. He also participated in the care of high school and college
athletes both on the athletic field and in the training room.
Dr. Lercel treats all age groups in a wide variety of operative and non-operative
conditions involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle,
and foot. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery,
and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery
and California Orthopaedic Association.

Dr. Basmajian was recruited to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC)
from his previous position as the Chair of Orthopaedic Trauma at Loma
Linda University Medical Center. He was brought to PVHMC to help build and create the top Orthopaedic
Trauma program nationwide. Dr. Basmajian also performs anterior hip replacements
making him part of the Joint Replacement Program at PVHMC.

other surgeons the art of trauma care in the field of Orthopaedics."
