PVHMC provides services and support for patients requiring inpatient or
outpatient surgical interventions. We are proud to provide a comprehensive
approach to the education, preparation, and care of our surgical patients
and their families. A typical surgical journey begins with your physician’s
referral and a visit to our pre-admission unit for surgery (PAUS). A registered
nurse and a skilled technician will answer your questions and begin preliminary
preparation for surgery. Any necessary lab work will be done at this time
to facilitate a smooth and comfortable experience the day of your surgery.
Information on how to prepare and what to expect will be provided to you.
For our pediatric patients, we provide a tour for both the parent and
child. Appropriate developmental teaching will be provided before and
after surgery. On the day of surgery, you will arrive at the pre-operative
unit. Our experienced staff will prepare you for surgery with personalized
care and transport you to the holding room. Our surgical team, which will
include one of our board certified anesthesiologists, a registered nurse
and a surgical scrub technician will interview you and answer any questions.
Once in the surgical suite, your surgery will begin.
