New Rehabilitation Services Offered at Pomona Valley Health Center in La Verne

Our Rehabilitation Services Department is proud to announce the following new specialized programs at the Pomona Valley Health Center in La Verne:

Urinary Incontinence/Pelvic Pain Management

For those looking for a non-surgical option to treating certain urinary incontinence and pelvic pain conditions. Millions suffer from the “unwanted leaking” of urinary incontinence during adult life … but fortunately, for many, there is good news. Physical therapy treatments have been reported to help reduce the frequency of “stress” incontinence.

Pelvic pain is pain felt in the lower abdomen, pelvis, or perineum and can have many possible causes. Physical therapy can be helpful with problems stemming from the muscles, nerves and supporting structures. Using the latest techniques and computer technologies, our specially trained physical therapist can discreetly and sensitively treat both involuntary urine loss and chronic pelvic pain. Patient education offers customized pelvic floor muscle exercises, a thorough explanation of contributing factors to these conditions, and recommendations for helpful lifestyle changes.

Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Our board-certified Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapists specializes in the prevention, rehabilitation and care of people who are at risk for, or diagnosed with, heart, lung and other health conditions, such as:

  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Acute and chronic breathing disorders
  • Diabetes
  • Vascular (blood vessel) disease
  • Arterial (artery) disease
  • Cystic fibrosis
  • High blood pressure
  • Heart disease and heart failure

Some of these conditions can put people at greater risk for falls and fall-related injuries. The added benefit of physical therapy interventions and expertise helps patients regain their confidence, strength, and balance through overall better health and fitness.

Lymphedema Management

Occasionally, cancer treatments or injuries can disrupt normal lymphatic function resulting in dramatic arm or leg swelling. If left untreated, lymphedema can lead to serious complications. At Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, our Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) uses non-invasive treatments and preventative techniques to reduce pain and minimize the formation of chronic swelling. Along with proper bandaging, garments, skin care, exercise and patient education, this specialized physical therapy program can help patients manage this condition.
