Labor Support

Our labor and delivery team is dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered support throughout your labor experience. Nurses, physicians, and clinical staff work together to monitor your progress, manage discomfort, and support the safety and well-being of both you and your baby.

Support persons play an important role during labor. We encourage the presence of loved ones who can offer reassurance and comfort while working alongside your care team.

Visitation Guidelines

Triage:

  • One visitor may stay with the patient in triage.

Labor:

  • 24-hour visitation is allowed.
  • No more than three visitors at a time (excluding siblings).
  • Certified doulas and midwives are permitted as part of the labor support team.

Postpartum:

  • One support person may stay overnight.
  • Visiting hours are 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
  • No more than three visitors at a time (excluding siblings).
  • Visitors under 14 are limited to the patient’s children and must be accompanied by an adult.

Special Circumstances:

Visitation exceptions may be made based on medical necessity or other special circumstances, with approval from LDRP leadership.

Pain Management Options

We offer a variety of options to help manage labor discomfort. Pain management options include epidural analgesia, IV medications, nitrous oxide for non-narcotic relief, and supportive measures such as hydrotherapy, position changes, massage, and breathing techniques.

Your care team will discuss available choices and help you select the methods that best fit your needs and birth preferences.

What to Expect From Your Care Team

Throughout labor, your care team will monitor your health and your baby’s well-being, answer questions, and adjust care as needed. Our goal is to support a safe, informed, and respectful labor experience while providing reassurance and expert medical care every step of the way.
