Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC), the largest birthing hospital in Los Angeles andlarge group of people San Bernardino Counties, recently held its “NICU Reunion” on June 15 to celebrate the lives of their tiniest patients. Among these families, those with twins and triplets attended the event to connect with other families who have experienced the challenges and victories that come with caring for multiples. All graduates and their families were able to reunite with the Doctors, Nurses and Staff that helped deliver and care for their babies in their first months of life.

Isreal Vallejo, a twin and current Military Service member born at PVHMC 23 years ago, addressed the crowd as he spoke about his successes in life and the obstacles he and his family have had to overcome. The event also honored the dads and father figures in attendance with medals of recognition. Event activities included a photo booth, decorating headbands, games and refreshments.

With more than 5,000 births at PVHMC in 2018, including 100 multiple births, the Hospital’s Women’s Center is committed to improving the safety and quality of care for women and their babies during labor and delivery – including decreasing its already low Cesarean birth (C-section) rate. PVHMC, the largest birthing hospital in Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties, has a state-of-the-art 53-bed level III NICU facility for the treatment of sick or premature babies from all over Southern California. With one of the largest maternal transport teams in California, PVHMC brings women with high-risk pregnancies who are experiencing complications to the Hospital by ground or air in a mobile intensive care unit. Over 150 high-risk pregnant women are transferred to the Hospital each year, which includes those with babies born prematurely.
