Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Named Among Elite 12% of “Best Hospitals” in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report

Hospital also Ranked as High-Performing in Eight Specialties, Procedures and Conditions

POMONA, Calif. (July 26, 2022) – Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) has earned top marks as a Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 2022-23. PVHMC is among the elite 12% of hospitals in the nation that won “Best” honors.

The hospital also earned “High Performing” ratings for excellence in eight adult specialties, procedures and conditions:

  • Urology
  • Stroke
  • Heart failure
  • Heart attack
  • Heart bypass
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney failure
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

High Performing ratings recognize care that was significantly better than the national average, as measured by factors such as patient outcomes and is the highest rating U.S. News awards for those types of care.

The annualBest Hospital rankings and ratings list, now in its 33rd year, is designed to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive quality care for challenging health conditions or elective procedures.

For the 2022-2023 rankings and ratings, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. In the 15 specialties, 164 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty. State and metro area rankings reflect the highest performing hospitals in the area across multiple areas of care.

“The hospitals named among the best have extensive medical expertise and a history of delivering good outcomes,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “When patients and their medical professionals are considering their options for care, the rankings are designed to help them identify hospitals that are superior in the kind of care they may need.”

U.S. News evaluated each hospital’s performance using a variety of measures such as survival rates, complication rates, patient experience and level of nursing care. The Best Hospitals methodology factors in data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association, professional organizations and medical specialists.
