Mikel Angelo De Leon, RN BSN 3rd Year Nurse- Telemetry 3- Station 1

When I was 17 years old, I had a food allergy reaction which caused me to go into anaphylactic shock. Paramedics took me to PVHMC for treatment. I was so scared. Despite the alarms, the foreign sounds, and the possibility of losing my life, I felt a sense of peace and comfort from the health care team. Their caring nature, compassion, and professionalism helped me feel confident that I would pull through. Their traits inspired me to become a nurse. I realized that I wanted to provide the same sense of comfort and peace that I had received as a patient. I wanted my nursing journey to start in the same place that inspired me to become an excellent nurse. I chose PVHMC because the people that work here have given me a second chance. Because of my experience, being a nurse and helping others have a second chance at life comes naturally to me.

I have a career at PVHMC because I believe there is a sense of camaraderie and family within this hospital. This hospital has continued to strive for excellence in medical/nursing practice. I started my education in the New Grad Residency Program, where I developed a stronger sense of patient care and advocacy. Currently, I am enrolled in PVHMC's Fellowship Program transitioning to ICU. I feel a great sense of pride to say that I am an associate from PVHMC.
