A tragic train derailment on Christmas Eve, 1899, became the impetus for a hospital to be built in Pomona in 1903. Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) in Eastern Los Angeles County began because the community needed it—and still does. The hospital continues to be recognized for its excellence here and beyond, in no small part because of the community’s ongoing support.
Year after year, our commitment remains the same: to strive continuously to improve health outcomes by reaching out and serving the needs of our diverse ethnic, religious and cultural community. It’s a lofty goal, but we never lose sight of the responsibilities we are honored to fulfill.
Through the guidance of Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Foundation, incorporated in 1979, every philanthropic dollar goes back into the hospital to purchase the latest technology or expand our facilities, and it’s a never-ending quest. The Foundation’s life-changing work touches every corner of the hospital. It remains a key reason that helps provide the resources necessary for the hospital to continue to earn formal national recognitions and awards for our tireless dedication to our community’s good health.
Follow along with these major milestones that document our commitment, then and now, to thoughtful and strategic growth. It has enabled PVHMC to remain a leader in delivering the highest quality local healthcare to those who need it most:
This list isn’t finished. With the help of generous donors to our Foundation, we will continue to add notable achievements that don’t just benefit the hospital but allow us to provide the highest quality care to all the members of the PVHMC community.
