Meet the Foundation Staff

Richard E. Yochum, FACHE

President/Chief Executive Officer

YochumMr. Yochum, has been employed at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) since 1978, and has served in his current capacity since 1993.

Before coming to PVHMC, he served as an Assistant Administrator at City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California.

He has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Loyola University, L.A. and a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).

In addition to his responsibilities at PVHMC, Mr. Yochum also serves as President of the PVHMC Foundation. He is active in many professional and community agencies including, Chairman of the California Healthcare Insurance Company (CHI, Optima), Board Member, Keck Graduate Institute (KGI), Board Member, Inter Valley Health Plan and, Association Member of the L.A. County Fair Association.

He has served as the 2011 Chairman of the Hospital Association of So. California (HASC), Board Member of the California Hospital Association (CHA), Board Member of Mt. Baldy United Way, Boy Scouts of America, and McKinley Children's Center; Past President, Pomona Chamber of Commerce; Past Chairman of the Board, American Red Cross, Pomona Valley Chapter; and Past Board Member, Pomona Economic Development Corporation.

Mr. Yochum has received the following Recognitions: National Health Foundation Recipient Award 2012; Los Angeles Business Journal, Hospital CEO Award 2012; Los Angeles Business Journal, 1994; Health Care Who’s Who, 1994-2016; Boy Scouts of America, Good Scout of the Year, 1998; Los Angeles Times Most Influential People, 2000; Inland Empire Leaders of Distinction, 2001; Congressional Record, House of Representatives Private Sector Award, 2003; Boys and Girls Club, Golden Hands Achievement Award, 2003; Pomona Chamber of Commerce Community Award for 2004;.Excellence in Hospital Administration Award, Inland Valley News, 2016.

Mr. Yochum has also been an instructor and lecturer at the University of La Verne, Pasadena City College, and at various seminars and conferences.

James Dale

Vice President of Development

DaleJim joined Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center Foundation as Vice President of Development in January 2009. Jim began his fund development career in 1999 as Vice President of Major Gifts at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, CA. At Hoag, he was in charge of the successful $75 million capital Campaign for the Bill & Sue Gross Women's Pavilion.

In 2006, Jim accepted the position of Executive Vice President and COO of Scottsdale Healthcare Foundation, in Scottsdale, Arizona and remained at Scottsdale Healthcare until he joined Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in January 2009.

Jim finds Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) to be an important element of the quality of life to the community it serves. The high quality of the Hospital physicians and staff, along with providing the latest in technology, is a testament to the commitment of the Hospital’s leadership to provide excellence in healthcare to every patient the Hospital serves.

The members of the three boards of the Hospital, Foundation, and Auxiliary are extremely loyal to the Hospital and their local governance is another factor in what makes PVHMC such a special community and regional medical center.

Jim received his Bachelor of Arts in Business and Economics from Chapman University in Orange, CA and his Masters of International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona.

Jim and his wife Cheri live in Tustin, CA. They have a son, Alex, who is in college studying to become a chef.

Glenda J. Ferguson

Director of Development

Ferguson

In 1988, Glenda was hired as the Administrative Assistant in the Foundation Department. In 1999, she set a goal to learn more about fund development. She returned to college taking night classes and graduated in 2004 from the University of Redlands with her Bachelors in Business Management. In 2008, she was promoted to her current role as Director of Development.

Her responsibilities include Special Events: Power of Red; Heartbeat Gala; Annual Wine Tasting Event and Singing for Survivors. She is also tasked with raising funds through direct mail - Annual Giving program; Donor Relations, Planned Giving and Major Gifts.

Glenda enjoys working in fund development because it’s a career that promotes “good feelings”. She is proud to have been involved with bringing new Centers of Excellence to PVHMC, such as: Stead Heart & Vascular Center; The Robert and Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center; the Emergency Room Expansion project and The Robert and Beverly Lewis Outpatient Pavilion. Glenda enjoys meeting new Hospital friends and working with long-time donors who are “eager to support the mission of the Hospital through financial contributions.”

She lives in Rancho Cucamonga, and in her spare time enjoys a newfound love of creating stained glass art. A piece of her beautiful glass art was published in Stained Glass Quarterly - 2018. She is married to Charlie and has two adult daughters, Ashley and Brooke and 2 dogs, Lexi and Sophie.

Susan McGrath

Administrator, Database

Sue joined the PVHMC Foundation in 1997 as the part-time Clerical Support. Since then she has held a number of positions within the Foundation, including Executive Secretary, Development Assistant and Database & Prospect Research Specialist and recently promoted to Database Administrator. Sue likes to take the initiative and learn new things, including how current and future technology influences philanthropy. She was born and raised in Preston, Lancashire, England and served 5 years with the Women's Royal Naval Service in communications. She resides in Pomona and can actually walk to work!

Digna Macias

Foundation Administration Assistant

Digna joined PVHMC Foundation April 2019 as administrative assistant. She graduated Chaffey High School in 2003 and has a background in the banking industry before coming to work in the Finance department at PVHMC in 2015. Digna was eager to volunteer for foundation events as soon she heard about them, and as a result became more interested in the fundraising. Digna loved the idea of working for a department that does so much for patients and the community. She currently lives in Ontario with her husband, Alex and their three children Angeline, Mali and Ariana as well as their 4-year-old dog Stella. In her spare time Digna enjoys spending time with her family and friends. In the future when her children have left the nest, Digna plans to travel and see the world with her husband.
