Our Level IIIb Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides advanced care for sick or premature infants throughout San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties. Within minutes, infants who experience complications during or after birth can receive specialized, life-saving care.

Comprehensive Medical and Surgical Services

Our NICU offers a wide range of services tailored to the needs of critically ill newborns, including:

  • Medical Care: High-frequency ventilation, surfactant replacement therapy, genetic screening, and subspecialty consultations.
  • Surgical Care: Hypothermia treatment, gastrointestinal procedures (hernia repair, fundoplications, gastrostomy tube, bowel obstructions, intussusception, ileostomy, colostomy, pyloromyotomy, imperforate anus, omphalocele, gastroschisis), and neurosurgical procedures (VP shunt, ventriculostomy).

Highly Trained, Multi Disciplinary Team

Every member of our NICU team is specially trained to provide advanced care for newborns. Led by board-certified neonatologists, our team includes pediatric subspecialists, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, developmental therapists, dieticians, and medical social workers. Continuous education and training ensure that our staff uses the latest technology and techniques to promote healing and optimal outcomes.

Family-Centered Care

We know the importance of including parents in the care of their newborn. Our family-centered approach emphasizes:

  • 24-hour parent visitation
  • Skin-to-skin bonding
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Grandparent and sibling visits per parent permission

This approach helps parents feel confident and involved, preparing them for a smooth transition home when their baby is ready.

NICU Visitation Guidelines

  • Visitors must be 18 years or older; parents may bring family or friends.
  • Only two visitors are allowed at the bedside at a time, based on the baby’s condition and nurse discretion.
  • Visiting is allowed anytime except during shift changes: 6:45–7:45 AM and 6:45–7:45 PM.
  • Children must be supervised and may wait in the lobby or NICU family waiting room. Siblings 5 years and older may visit for a short time with proof of current immunizations.
  • Visitors exhibiting any signs of illness are not permitted.
  • All visitors are required to perform hand hygiene upon entering the NICU and before touching the baby.
