SMC Team Doctors
The SMC is proud to provide team doctors to our local high schools. These physicians work closely with each school's coaching staff and athletic trainer to provide pre-participation physicals before the season begins, as well as, event coverage and support during the season at both home and away games.
Each year the SMC Team Doctors organize and provide group pre-participation exams to our local high school teams. Performed at the school as a fund raiser, the SMC physicians donate their time, giving the proceeds earned from the physicals back to the school's athletic department. The fund raiser meets the yearly CIF requirement allowing athletes who clear the exam to participate in school sports. Call Rick Rossman at (909) 865-9810 for more information about scheduling a "$$$ for Physicals" SMC fund raiser for your school. PVHMC Sports Medicine Center's "$$$ For Physicals" program raised $11,765 for local schools in 2016... and $126,000 since 2006.

PVHMC Partnership with Cal Poly Pomona University
The longtime partnership that originally began with Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center as a place for injured Cal Poly Pomona athletes to rehabilitate, has blossomed in recent years with PVHMC becoming one of the athletic department’s biggest corporate supporters, helping to make scholarship offers to student-athletes possible.
The SMC not only provides university athletes with injury assessment and rehabilitation, but also offers advice to the athletic training staff when needed. In addition, the SMC physicians serve as team doctors for CPP Athletics, attending many sporting events throughout the year and providing athletes with pre-season physicals. In return, the Cal Poly Pomona athletic trainers assist the SMC physicians at high school pre-participation exams and other medical events, while university athletes often lend a hand with PVHMC activities.
The partnership is a true cooperative effort, both on and off the playing field. PVHMC and Cal Poly Pomona work together for wellness with a community-based focus helping to get the word out about health and fitness.
“We are extremely fortunate through our partnership with Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for the care of our student-athletes. They provide outstanding medical attention and service in support of Bronco Athletics. They have become a valued contributor to academic and athletic scholarship of our student-athletes. It is a credit to two of the leading institutions in the greater San Gabriel/Pomona Valley and Inland Empire to partner together in serving the future leaders of where we live and work.” Brian Swanson, Cal Poly Pomona Director of Athletics

The SMC proudly sponsors local teams and athletes through booster activities, programs, banners, PPEs and other opportunities. In addition, the SMC often participates in the sponsorship and planning of local sporting events including the annual Holiday Half Marathon and 5K Run.
