Our medical oncologists are physicians that are specially trained in the
prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer and cancer-related symptoms
in adults. Cancers of specific organs, such as breast, lung, and colon
fall within the specialty of medical oncology.
Many of our oncology providers are also certified in the specialty of hematology,
which deals with the treatment of blood and bone marrow disorders. Conditions
such as chronic anemia, leukemia and other bone marrow disorders fall
into the specialty of hematology. However, the specialties of medical
oncology and hematology are very closely related and significantly overlap
with the treatments of conditions such as lymphoma, multiple myeloma and
other related disorders, which are handled by both specialty providers.
In short, both medical oncologists and hematologists have broad experience
in the entire spectrum of cancers and blood disorders.
Medical oncologists and hematologists work closely with your primary care
